House Rules
- It is expected that each child displays her best and maintains cleanliness of her space in her room.
- It is expected that each child follows the schedule set by the home especially with regards to rising up and sleep time.
- Roll call is a very important part of boarding house rules; hence absence without any prior permission shall be treated as a violation of the set rules.
- Disrespectful conversation or argument with any member of staff is not allowed.
- Sports material will be looked after by the Matron, so it is required that all sports paraphernalia will be deposited with the matron upon arrival at the hostel.
- Stealing, smoking, consuming drugs, possession of objectionable and obscure material and indecent sexual behaviour are offences that will warrant severe penalization such as expulsion from the home.
- Matters like bullying, harassing, ragging or hurting physically/mentally shall be dealt with seriously and the child might face disciplinary action with consultation with parents.
- No child is allowed to bring in tobacco, drugs into the house, any such activity shall be notified to the parents immediately
- The Matron has the right to inspect and search a child's cubicle or possessions in her presence at anytime should she suspect illegal or dangerous possessions.
- Inappropriate discrimination on ground of gender, race, religion, cultural background, linguistic background or academic or sporting ability should be avoided at any cost.
- No consumable material such as chips, cool drinks, e.t.c will be allowed to be brought in by any child.
- All personal effects are the responsibility of the child and parent, the staff will at all times assist the children with safekeeping, however loss of such personal items remains the child's responsibility.
Food
- All children are expected to adhere to meal times as per the daily routine
- Extra snacks can be requested from the matron at anytime
The matron has the right to refuse within reason, such as excessive demands, close to meal times, after bedtime e.t.c
Dress and appearance
- All children are expectedto be dressed in a presentable state at all time. Inappropriate dressing (revealing clothes) is strictly prohibited.
- Colouring of hair, inappropriate hairstyling and body tattoos are not permissible.
- Girls hair will have to be neatly groomed and tied in accordance to schools requirements, school requirement will also apply to nail polish and makeup.
- Parents are expected to have appropriate sets of school uniforms with correct measurements, low waist or oversize clothes are prohibited
Use of mobile phones/ electronic gadgets
- Mobile phones handed to the child will not be the responsibility of the home and as a result such phones are to be registered with the matron and accompanied with a letter giving permission for usage. Mobile phones must not have video technology or recording devices.
- There will be an allocated time slot for mobile phone usage during the day upon returning from school, children will be given their phones at this time and the phones will be collected after this time and registered by the matron.
- Children will be provided with adequate entertainment activities and as a result will not be allowed to bring televisions, radios, speakers or noisy equipment.
- All kind of valuable electronic gadgets such as mobile phones, I - pod, laptop, PSP's,game boy e.t.c needs to be declared and submitted in the boarding house at set times. The home is not responsible for any loss or theft of such items including cash while in possession of the child.
Travel and parents access to children
- There will be no travel without appropriate parental/ guardian authority.
- Parents are requested to report their children to the home's office and not directly to their rooms.
- Parents/Guardians should report their children to the Home no later than 8.00pm at the latest unless prior arrangement has been made. Students reporting later than this time will not be allowed on the premises.
